Emeli Sandé’s Our Version of Events – Review

Emeli Sandé – born Adele Emeli Sandé – released her debut album on February 13th of this year, 2012. The album, “Our Version of Events” contains the hit single “Heaven” and an arrangement of her collaboration with London hip-hop/rap artist, Professor Green.

It also includes tracks which bring out Emeli’s trademark explosive voice such as “My Kind of Love,” “Daddy” (which was remixed by Third Party,) and her latest single, “Next to Me.”

Other numbers on the album are more soulful and bluesy. She’s a talent that will be on the radar of British pop music for a long, long time; with this album winning Critics’ Choice at this year’s BRIT Awards, it goes without saying that there will be a lot more to come from this Scot.

Before the release of her album, Sandé had done a lot of work, going un-noticed as a feature in Chipmunk’s first top ten hit, “Diamond Rings.” She has also recorded a version of French DJ, David Guetta’s hit, “Titanium.” The pair then went on to perform the track at the NRJ Music Awards in France.

However, that was not all, as she showed her versatility once more by recording her own version of Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.”

A must buy, because at the end of the day, if it’s winning Critics’ Choice at the BRIT Awards, there must be some sort of quality contained within it. Now I have it, I wouldn’t be without it, which is a definite.
